Every year it’s kind of a duty to go to the main show. It’s hugely entertaining and comforting. Because it never changes. Same show year in year out. Worth the price of the ticket.

Outside of the main tent there are stalls with rifles to shoot ducks for cuddly soft toys, bumper cars, whirligigs, a little rollercoaster, a big wheel, a hoe-down and just about as much fun as you can cram into a disused carpark on the edge of town.

Among all the usual stalls I spotted a guy with just a fold up table and three cups overturned on it and he seemed to be drawing quite a crowd. I hollered at my crew and Barry and we tramped over the wood-chipped ground to get a closer look.
